Pohang Steelers Vs Jeju United Preview

Pohang Steelers Vs Jeju United - 3pm, Saturday, 9th May 2009 (Pohang Steelyard)

(Live on KBS N Sports)

Jeju go to Pohang on Saturday hoping to end their record of five K-League games without a win. The hosts have had a busy season of Champions League football which seems to have distracted them in the domestic competitions - Pohang have won just one league game this season.

Both clubs had successful midweek games - Jeju beat Gyeongnam 2-1 in the Peace Cup and Pohang won 3-2 against Australian side Central Coast Mariners in the Champions League. Jeju will also take confidence from last year's visit to the Steelyard where they won 1-0 in torrential rain. It was their second successive win at the Steelyard.

A draw would be a decent result but after such a poor run Jeju will be searching for a win to move them back up the table.

Previous meetings:
Jeju have a good record against Pohang having won three and drawn one of the last six games between the clubs. The islanders have won their last two matches at the Steelyard.

Team News
After an excellent performance midweek, Gu Ja-Cheol is expected to start. With Shim Young-Sung and Oveira also available, Jeju will be confident they can breach the Pohang defence.
Club captain Lee Dong-Sik is unavailable as Jeju's problems in defence continue.

Keep an eye out for:
Hwang Jae-Won (24) is club captain and has played in defence for the Korean national side.
Veteran midfielder Kim Gi-Dong (6) played 198 games for Jeju United's ex-identity Bucheon SK and has scored 14 goals for Pohang in over 140 appearances.
Midfielder Kim Jae-Sung (7) made 55 appearances for Jeju in the 2006 and 2007 seasons.
Brasilia (11) is a danger upfront, a video of a goal he scored at former club Ulsan can be seen here.
Serbia born striker Stevica Ristić (99) caused a stir when he was called up for the Macedonian national team. The player scored seven goals in the K-League last season.
Pohang signed young midfielder Kim Chang-Hoon (27) from Jeju last winter.
